Q. My dear black lab, Louie (14 yrs old), can no longer walk well, hasn't been able to climb nor desend stairs for a couple yrs, falls frequently, eats very little, and incontinent now. At what point am I prolonging his misery and not his life? He has been such a great companion, loves to travel, and has brought our family such gratitude and happiness.
