Finding the Right Pet-Friendly Timeshare for You

When you bring your pet along with you on vacation you want to make sure that it will be as, or more, comfortable than it would at home. While taking your pet along will certainly be less stressful for it than leaving it at a kennel or with a neighbor, animals tend to get anxious when traveling. One way to alleviate this anxiety (especially with dogs who have a keen sense of familiarity) is to buy timeshare in a locale that you will return to again and again.

Animals feel most comfortable when they are in familiar surroundings. As you and your pet explore your timeshare property and the surrounding areas, it will begin to feel less like a foreign place and more like a home away from home. Of course, you will want to ensure that the pet-friendly timeshare you choose will have the appropriate amenities, service and space to help make both you and your pet as comfortable as possible.

Pet-friendly timeshares should offer ample running or walking room on the grounds; should have an animal-sitting service should you take a day-trip where your pet is not welcome; and should be within close proximity to animal-centric activities or locations like a beach, lake, hiking trails or dog park. Some even offer spa-like services for your animals, such as grooming, massage and gourmet meals.

Then there are the more practical concerns that you will need to take into account. Many resorts, for example, impose weight or breed restrictions. Large dogs or dogs of a certain breed (especially those considered "vicious" are sometimes not accepted.) It might not seem fair, but it is something you will want to be sure of before you buy timeshare at any pet-friendly resort.

You will also want to consider the lodging situation. If you are vacationing with your skittish cat, for example, you will want to ensure that you are not rooming next to a rambunctious dog. Many animal-accommodating timeshares have different floors for different animals. These are concerns you will want to raise with your potential resort before you buy.

You can find great deals on pet-friendly timeshares for sale on the online resale market. Resorts, especially those that accommodate pets, will often grossly inflate their pricing (to help pay for everything from salesmen's commissions to insurance). When you buy timeshare resale, on the other hand, you will be purchasing from a previous owner. As such, you can often save thousands on exactly the same property.
